Public Safety

Mission: To serve and protect the citizens of Charlotte County through leadership, teamwork, and exceptional services.

Charlotte County Public Safety comprises Emergency Management, Fire & EMS, Fire Prevention, Animal Control, Radio Communications, and the Public Safety Training Center. The department utilizes a highly skilled workforce to provide services to protect life and property, mitigate hazards, and respond to emergencies.

Charlotte County Public Safety invites you to our 26th annual Santa Pancake Breakfast from 9–11 a.m. on Dec. 23 in the parking lot of the Charlotte County Public Safety Building, 26571 Airport Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33982. Enjoy a free pancake breakfast sponsored by HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, meet Santa when he arrives on a fire engine at 9:30 a.m., and take part in photos with Santa, children’s activities, live Christmas music, and demonstrations by Charlotte County Fire & EMS. Families can also explore equipment displays from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, Utilities, and other county departments.

Charlotte County Burn Ban Status

The Charlotte County Commission has voted to rescind the countywide burn ban previously enacted on Feb. 25, 2025. The decision was made following recent rainfall and improved drought conditions, which have reduced the wildfire risk.
